Miss Vietnam San Diego™ | San Diego, CA
This year, we are proud to be a sponsor for the San Diego Tet Festival, which is also known as the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. The Tet Festival has been managed by the Vietnamese American Youth Alliance and the Vietnamese Federation of San Diego for years and they work very hard to keep it going.
"Tet" is one of the most important holiday in Vietnam because it is the celebration of a new moon on the first day of the Vietnamese calendar. The Tet celebration is usually three days because the new moon transition usually takes three days to complete. To celebrate Tet, many people would prepare by cooking special holiday foods and cleaning the house. There are also a lot of customs that are practiced during that time of the year, such as ancestral worshipping, wishing New Year's greetings, giving lucky money to children and elderly people, and visiting a special guest's home on the first day.
Another fun fact about the Vietnamese Lunar New Year is that each year is represented by a different zodiac sign. There are a total of 12 zodiac signs and this year is the Horse!
We would like to introduce to you the contestants for the Miss Vietnam of San Diego for 2014.
Each of these ladies are beautiful, talented, and unique in their own way and it was our pleasure to have work with them.
Come out to the San Diego Tet Festival and enjoy part of the culture and celebration. It will be held on January 31st through February 2nd at the Mira Mesa Community Park.
